This venture started because I almost lost my horse to a severe case of founder. Brooke Lane Marquessa, aka Markie, was only 1.5 mm away from having her bone penetrate her sole. I have never seen her in so much pain; she looked like she had given up and was simply waiting to die. She was lying down in her stall refusing to get up. When she finally did get up, she stood motionless with her head hanging down almost brushing the shavings on the floor. Markie didn’t even raise her head when I came in.

Desperate to find something to help her, I rummaged in the tack room of my barn and found an old bottle of a solution called “Fungi Free” that I had used several years earlier. My farrier had given it to me and told me that it was a “miracle” solution and would help with founder. I had nothing else to help, so I put some of the solution on Markie’s white line. I left her in the stall with the stall door open to the pasture and headed inside to find out what was taking the vet so long to arrive.

When I came back out an hour later, I found Markie in the paddock munching on some hay. What had happened? Nothing but using the Fungi Free. By the time my vet arrived, Markie was able to stand while radiographs were taken. We administered Bute, but the drastic 180 degree turn around came from the use of the solution. Fungie Free had saved Markie’s life.

I contacted Ganeden Biotech, Inc, the company that had originally manufactured the Fungi Free. Ganeden had decided to concentrate on products dedicated for use by humans and had discontinued the smaller equine line.

I couldn’t let the solution that saved Markie’s life remain dormant. [And I wanted some more for my own use.] After talking with them, we agreed that this mixture was too important to drop. We could save lives with this and, therefore, knew we had to restart the manufacturing process. We renamed the solution “Founder Free™” and this “miracle” ointment is being manufactured and distributed by Markie’s Choice, Inc.

I have seen Founder Free work on my horses and others as well. Founder Free is the first solution that can take the pain away from your horse and turn her into a sound, happy horse.
